Judy’ School of Dance had an exciting 2010-11 dance season!  This was Judy’s 31st year in business and alongside her normal teaching obligations in the studio she also found time to participate in some truly remarkable events.
In November, Judy taught at the 27th annual National Clogging Convention held at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.  She has been asked to be a featured instructor at the 28th Annual Clogging Convention being held on the U.S. Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas. Judy’s School of Dance was extended an invitation to perform at Disney World on the Christmas Holidays.  Thirty-six students participated in a 45 minute show of step dancing, clogging and fiddling on the Waterside Stage at Downtown Disney on Thursday, December 30, 2010.  What a great opportunity for the students for Judy’s School of Dance.

Judy was also asked to put together a “Riverdance” style show of Canadian Step Dancing for Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri.  The show, billed as “Canadian Powerhouse” coincided with the theme park’s World-Fest 2011, which is the largest international folk festival in North America.  This event provided a great outlet for us to showcase our unique Canadian Folk-art of step dancing along with some old-tyme fiddling as well.  Selected students from Judy’s School of Dance along with top-notch fiddlers and step dancers from across Ontario formed the prestigious 18 member troupe.  From April 7 to May 8, 2011, Canadian Powerhouse performed seventy-two shows to an audience of more than 50,000 people.

Kyle Waymouth spent a large part of our last dance season touring with the Scott Woods Band.  In November and December 2010 they performed in Ontario and Quebec presenting the “Old Time Christmas Show”.  From May 10 to June 12, 2011, the band toured to the West Coast of Canada doing twenty-eight of their “All Aboard” shows along the way.
